EyePrompt Teleprompter Privacy Policy

EyePrompt Teleprompter is built to be private by design. It runs entirely on your device (iPhone, iPad or Mac), has no accounts, and sends nothing to us. This policy explains, in plain language, what that means for you.

In short

The app collects nothing. No account, no analytics, no tracking. Your scripts, recordings and everything else stay on your device, and nothing is sent to us. We run no server for the app and store nothing about you.
Apple distributes the app and handles every purchase, under Apple's own privacy policy. Apple shows us only anonymous totals, such as how many people downloaded the app.
Our website is separate from the app. It counts visits with privacy-friendly analytics, uses no tracking cookies, asks you for nothing, and is not connected to the app. See "Our website (separate from the app)" below.

Who we are

EyePrompt Teleprompter ("EyePrompt," "the app") is made by Beonbrand Inc., a Canadian company. Beonbrand Inc. is the company responsible for the app and for this policy.

We answer privacy questions directly. We do not collect or store personal information from the app. The only personal information that can reach us is what you choose to send us, such as an email you write to us. Our privacy officer is responsible for this policy and can be reached at hello@beonbrand.ca.

Information we collect

The app collects nothing. There is no EyePrompt server, and the app does not send your information to us or to anyone else.

EyePrompt has no user accounts, no login, and no cloud storage that we operate. We run no analytics in the App Store version of the app, we show no advertising, we do not sell or share your personal information, and we use no third-party SDKs. The app makes no network calls of its own and works fully in Airplane Mode.

Everything the app creates or works with stays on your device, in the app's own private storage:

Your scripts, meaning the text you type, paste, or import. Kept until you delete them.
Your recorded takes, the video files you record. They are shared outside the app only when you explicitly export or save them.
Take details and thumbnails, such as duration, size, dates, and a small preview image for each take. Deleted with the take.
Your Eye Contact Score, one number plus a confidence value per front-camera take on iPhone and iPad. Deleted with the take.
A gaze timeline for each scored take: about two points per second, each saying only whether you were looking at the lens. Deleted when you delete the take.
A caption file for each take: the script's words and when each was on screen, used to make captions. Deleted when you delete the take.
Prompter settings, such as font, speed, and mirror preferences. Stored on the device.
On iPhone and iPad, the days you practised (up to 400), for the practice streak and the weekly reminder, and the reminder's day and time if you turn it on.
On iPhone and iPad, text you share to EyePrompt from another app. It waits in a private folder on your device until the app adds it to your library, for 30 days at most.
The date you first used the app, to time the free 30-day export period.
Your Pro unlock, a small flag cached in the device Keychain that records whether your App Store purchase has unlocked Pro. It contains no payment details.
On iPhone and iPad, local reliability counters: small counts (app launches, takes started, finished and failed, exports) and a log of the last 100 events with their times, such as a take's length, a failure reason, the score confidence, and how often Smart Pause held and how loud the room was. They contain no scripts, recordings, file names or identifiers. They stay on the device, are never sent, and are removed when you delete the app.

Because the App Store privacy label reflects what the app actually does, EyePrompt's label is "Data Not Collected."

If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, including anything you attach, such as a diagnostics summary. We keep it to answer you, and we delete it when you ask.

Information we do NOT collect

To be explicit, the App Store version of EyePrompt does not:

Collect analytics or track you across apps, websites, or over time.
Require an account, a login, or a sign-up.
Upload your scripts, recordings, thumbnails, settings, or scores to us or to any server.
Use advertising or advertising identifiers.
Sell or share your personal information.
Use third-party SDKs or make its own network calls.
Request your location, your contacts, or access to read your photo library.

We never see your data. The only ways anything moves at all are actions you take yourself: exporting or sharing a take or its captions (.srt), saving a finished video to Photos, choosing to share the diagnostics text described below, or making your own device backup.

Camera permission

EyePrompt uses the camera to record your takes, and to show you yourself in Rehearse and before you press Record. Nothing is saved unless you record. It uses the front camera by default, and the rear camera is supported if you prefer it. Your video is recorded and stored on your device. The app asks for camera and microphone access together, after a screen that explains why, just before your first take. If you open Rehearse first, it asks for the camera only. It never asks at launch. If you decline, you can still write and edit scripts and rehearse; you just cannot record video until you enable the camera in Settings.

Microphone permission

EyePrompt asks for microphone access for these reasons:

To record the audio of your takes, together with the video.
To measure the live audio level so that "Smart Pause" can hold the script when you stop speaking.
When Smart Follow is on, to recognize your words on the device so the script keeps your place. See "Speech recognition" below.

The Smart Pause measurement is a volume-level reading only. It is not speech recognition, and it does not transcribe or interpret your words. Your audio is recorded and stored on your device, like everything else. The app asks for microphone access together with the camera, just before your first take. On a Mac, the microphone is used for Studio takes and for Smart Follow. The Mac has no Smart Pause.

Speech recognition

EyePrompt 1.2 added Smart Follow, which uses speech recognition to keep your place in the script as you speak. On iPhone and iPad it is on by default from version 1.4 where your device can recognize speech on the device (up to version 1.3.5 it was off by default). You can turn it off, or on, in Settings or on the recording screen, and the app keeps your choice. On a Mac it starts on (see EyePrompt for Mac).

When Smart Follow is off, the app never asks for speech-recognition permission and never starts recognition. It only checks, without listening, whether your device can recognize the script's language.

When you turn it on:

On iPhone and iPad, the app asks for speech-recognition permission the first time you open the recording screen with Smart Follow on. It never asks during a take. If you decline, the script scrolls as usual, with your speed and Smart Pause settings, and the app tells you why.
Recognition is forced to run on your device, in the language the script is written in. The app sets Apple's on-device flag. If your device has no on-device recognition for that language, Smart Follow does not run. It never falls back to a server. Your audio is never sent to Apple's speech servers, and there is no EyePrompt server to send it to.
The recognized words are used for one thing only, moving the script to the right place, and are held in memory only while Smart Follow is listening. They are not written to disk, not attached to your video, and not saved anywhere afterwards.

Smart Pause is a separate, simpler feature and is unchanged: it reads the audio level only, and does no recognition at all.

Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight

From version 1.4 on iPhone and iPad, you can open, record or rehearse a script with Siri or the Shortcuts app, and find your scripts in Spotlight search. For this, EyePrompt gives your device the title and word count of each script, never the script's text. The index stays on your device, and you can turn it off for EyePrompt in your device's Siri settings. We receive none of it. What you say to Siri is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.

Script Coach (Apple Intelligence)

From version 1.4, on iPhones and iPads that support Apple Intelligence, the Script Coach can shorten a script to fit 30, 60 or 90 seconds. Apple's on-device language model ranks your sentences by importance, and EyePrompt keeps the most important ones that fit, in your own words; nothing is rewritten. This happens on your device, and your script is not sent to us or to Apple's servers for it. EyePrompt does not use Apple's server model (Private Cloud Compute). The shorter version is shown to you first and replaces your script only if you choose to use it.

EyePrompt for iPad

The iPad app is the same app as on iPhone, with the same features and the same rules. Everything this policy says about the iPhone app applies to the iPad app in the same way.

EyePrompt for Mac

The Mac app follows the same rule as the iPhone and iPad app: everything runs on your Mac, and nothing is sent anywhere.

The reading band shows your script near your camera during video calls. It records nothing. When Smart Follow is on, the band listens to your microphone from the moment you press Play until you hide the band or turn Smart Follow off, and recognizes your words on the Mac to keep your place. Its "hidden from screen sharing" setting is on by default. It asks macOS to leave the band out of screen captures. This works in supported apps and is best effort, so check it once with your own setup before a call that matters.
Smart Follow on the Mac uses the same on-device speech recognition as on iPhone and iPad, with the same rules: on-device only, no server fallback, nothing saved. One difference: on the Mac it is on by default when your Mac's language supports on-device recognition, because the band is there to wait for your voice. macOS asks for microphone and speech-recognition permission the first time you turn Smart Follow on or put a script on the band. You can turn Smart Follow off at any time.
Studio turns on the camera and microphone while Studio is open, so you can see yourself, and turns them off when you leave Studio or close the window. It records only when you press Record. Takes are stored in the app's own folder on your Mac. Exporting writes the video, and a captions file (.srt) beside it when the take has captions, where you choose in the save panel. The app cannot write anywhere else.
No sync. Scripts and takes on your Mac stay on your Mac; the app has no account and no cloud. To move a script, copy its text from the editor and paste it on the other device, or save it as a text file and import it there.

Photo Library (add-only)

EyePrompt uses add-only access to your Photos, and only to save a finished video that you choose to export. Add-only access means the app can add the video you export to your photo library, and nothing more. It cannot read, browse, or see your existing photos or videos.

You can bring a script in by typing, by pasting, by sharing text to EyePrompt from another app, or by choosing a TXT, RTF, PDF or Word file in the system file picker. The picker gives the app only the file you choose. None of this gives the app access to your photo library. On iPhone and iPad, the app reads your clipboard only when you tap Paste. On a Mac, it reads it when you click Paste or start a new script in Studio.

Notifications

On iPhone and iPad you can turn on a weekly practice reminder. The app asks for notification permission only then. The reminder is scheduled on your device and comes only in weeks you have not practised. If you do not open the app, it stops after four. Nothing is sent to us. You can turn it off in Settings.

Eye Contact Score and face data

The Eye Contact Score is computed on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's Vision framework, working on the frames of the take you just recorded. It applies to front-camera takes only; rear-camera takes are never scored.

What it does: it estimates how much of a take your eyes stayed near the lens, and turns that into a single score plus a confidence value for the take. It does not tell you how viewers will perceive you.
What exists, and for how long: face landmarks, pupil positions, and head-pose estimates exist in memory only while the take is being analyzed, then are discarded. They are never written to disk and never sent.
What is stored: the score, its confidence value, and a gaze timeline for the take (about two points per second, each saying only whether you were looking at the lens). All stay on your device and are deleted when you delete the take. Apart from your video and its small preview image, no images of your face and no face templates are created or kept.
What it is not: the Eye Contact Score is a measurement, not generative "AI." It never corrects, fixes, alters, or repaints your eyes or your gaze. It is never used to identify you or anyone else, and it is never used for authentication.
No face data leaves the device and no face data is shared. There are no third parties in this app.
We do not collect, receive or have access to any biometric identifiers or biometric information. The measurements above are made by the app on your device, are never stored as a face template, cannot identify you, and never reach us.
Turning it off: you can disable the Eye Contact Score in Settings, and scoring stops entirely. When analysis confidence is low, the app shows no score rather than a wrong one.

On iPhone and iPad, Setup Coach is on by default and helps you frame the shot before you record. On your device, it finds how big your face is in the live camera image and reads how the device is tilted, then shows a hint. Nothing is stored. You can turn it off in Settings or on the recording screen.

Subscriptions and payments

EyePrompt Pro is sold through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple handles the entire purchase and processes the payment, exactly as it does for any App Store purchase, under Apple's own privacy policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).

Beonbrand receives no payment card details and no Apple ID information. The app only learns, on your device, which Pro plan you have. That unlock is cached as a small flag in the device Keychain and contains no payment details.

The plans are:

Monthly, $7.99, with no free trial.
Annual, $39.99, with a 7-day free trial.
Lifetime, $99.99, a one-time purchase.

These are US prices. The App Store shows the price in your currency.

Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your App Store account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple through the App Store refund process, not by Beonbrand. You can also redeem an offer code in Settings. Apple handles the redemption.

Local storage

Everything EyePrompt holds lives in the app's own private storage on your device. That includes your scripts, your recorded takes, thumbnails, your Eye Contact Scores and gaze timelines, caption files, prompter settings, practice days, shared text waiting to be added, the Pro-unlock flag, and the local reliability counters described above.

There is no developer-side copy of any of this. Nothing is uploaded to Beonbrand, and there is no EyePrompt cloud that we operate.

Diagnostics

Diagnostics are optional and always started by you. The app itself reports nothing. If you turned on Share With App Developers in your device's privacy settings, Apple may send us crash reports and usage totals for EyePrompt. They do not contain your scripts or recordings.

On iPhone and iPad, if you contact us for help, you can create a diagnostics summary in Settings and share it with us. It is plain text, and you see all of it before you share. It contains only:

The app version and build number.
Your iOS or iPadOS version, and whether the device is an iPhone or an iPad.
The moment the summary was generated.
The reliability counters and event log described above.

It never contains your scripts, your recordings, file names, or identifiers. Sharing this text is the only diagnostics channel the app has, and it happens only when you choose to send it.

Beta (TestFlight) note: beta builds are made the same way as the App Store version and contain no telemetry. If you test a beta, Apple's TestFlight app may send us crash reports and any feedback or screenshots you choose to submit.

Backups

If you back up your iPhone or iPad (to iCloud or a computer) or your Mac (for example with Time Machine), your EyePrompt data, such as scripts, settings and takes, is in your own backup, along with other app data. That backup belongs to you and is handled by Apple's backup system. Beonbrand cannot see your backups.

Our website (separate from the app)

The website is separate from the app, and nothing on it is connected to the app. It has no accounts, no forms, no advertising and no tracking, and it does not ask you for any personal information.

Hosting and security. eyeprompt.app is hosted by Netlify and delivered through Cloudflare. As with any website, these providers process your IP address and basic browser information to deliver the pages and to protect the site from abuse, and they keep short-lived technical logs for that purpose.
Visit counts. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits and measure how fast pages load. It uses no cookies, does not follow you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you. We see only totals, such as how many visits a page had and from which countries.
Cookies. The site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. If Cloudflare has to check that a visit is not an automated attack, it may set a strictly necessary security cookie, which is used for nothing else. When you close the cookie notice, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage for this site. That entry holds nothing about you, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
App Store links on this site carry a label naming the page, so Apple can show us, as totals, how many downloads each page led to.

We used to offer an Android waitlist at the bottom of the home page. It has closed: the website no longer asks for any email address, and the addresses left there have been deleted.

Security

EyePrompt is built to keep the attack surface small. Because there is no server, no account, and no upload, there is no remote system that could be breached to reach your data.

Your data stays in the app's private storage on your device, protected by its operating system and by your device passcode and biometrics. The Pro-unlock flag is stored in the device Keychain and is kept only on this device. As with any app, keeping your device updated and protected with a passcode is the best way to keep your on-device data safe.

Data retention

Because everything lives on your device, you are in control of how long it is kept:

Delete a take, or a script with its takes, and everything stored with them is deleted right away: videos, preview images, caption files, gaze timelines and any aligned copies. On iPhone and iPad this covers deleting a script from version 1.3.5; earlier versions left the takes' caption and gaze files behind, and version 1.3.5 removes them the first time it opens.
On iPhone and iPad, if the app cannot match a recording to a script, for example after a crash, it keeps that video in a hidden folder rather than lose it. Deleting the app removes it.
Delete the app from your iPhone or iPad, and everything the app holds is removed with it, including your settings and the local reliability counters. The Pro flag, one on or off value in the Keychain, may stay behind; it holds nothing personal.
On a Mac, the app keeps its data in its own folder, ~/Library/Containers/ca.beonbrand.eyeprompt.
Copies you made yourself remain yours and stay under your control, such as videos you exported to Photos or shared elsewhere, and your own device backups.
Emails you send us are kept only as long as we need them to help you, and we delete them when you ask.

There is no developer-side copy of anything for us to keep or delete.

Children's privacy

EyePrompt is not directed at children under 13. The app collects nothing from anyone, regardless of age. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example by email, contact us and we will delete it.

EyePrompt is offered by a Canadian company and is used by people around the world. We act consistently with Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), and California's CCPA and CPRA.

Privacy laws like these give you rights over your personal information, such as the right to access it, delete it, correct it, or move it, to object to its use, and not to have it sold. With EyePrompt, these rights are largely satisfied by the way the app is built, because your app data never reaches Beonbrand:

There is no copy of your app data for us to retrieve, because it never reaches us.
There is nothing for us to erase from our systems, because your data never reaches us. You control the local data on your device: delete individual scripts or takes in the app, or delete the app to remove everything it holds.
There is nothing for us to correct, port, or stop selling, because we do not hold your app data, and we never sell or share personal information. We do not use personal information for advertising, profiling, or automated decisions about you.
Payment information is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/), so requests about payment data are directed to Apple.

The little personal information that can reach us outside the app is handled on these legal bases, under the GDPR and the KVKK:

Emails you send us: to answer you, which is in our legitimate interest and yours, or a step you asked us to take.
Website hosting, security and visit counts: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website and understanding, as totals, how it is used.

Our email provider and our website providers (Netlify and Cloudflare) may process this information in the United States and other countries. They use recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

We do not overclaim compliance. We simply describe the facts: your app data never reaches us, so there is none of it to access or delete. If you emailed us, we can show you or delete what we have. Write to hello@beonbrand.ca.

How to exercise your rights and contact us

You can exercise most of your rights directly, at any time, without contacting anyone:

To remove specific content, delete the script or take in the app.
To remove everything the app holds, delete the app from your device.
To manage or cancel a subscription, or to request a refund, use your App Store account settings; refunds are handled by Apple.

We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the data protection authority where you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, or Turkey's Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK).

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. This does not take away any right you have under the privacy laws of the place where you live.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page with a new date and announce the changes in the app's release notes. A change to this policy can never give us access to the data the app keeps on your device.
