How EyePrompt works

Product facts, checked against the App Store listing on 2026-10-02 (iOS 1.3.4, Mac 1.0.3).

EyePrompt is a teleprompter that keeps your script right under the camera, so you can read every word while your eyes stay near the lens. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac, works offline, and needs no account.

What problem does EyePrompt solve?

When you read from the middle of a screen, your eyes sit a few centimetres below the camera. Viewers notice the downward gaze and the small movements of reading, so a scripted video or call looks scripted. EyePrompt moves the words to where the lens is, which shrinks the distance your eyes travel away from it.

How does EyePrompt keep your gaze near the camera?

The script scrolls in a narrow band right under the front camera (on Mac, under the Mac's camera), with one line in focus. Lines are kept short, so your eyes do not travel sideways either. On iPad, the app asks which edge the camera is on and keeps the band narrow and centred under it, in portrait or landscape.

What moves the script?

Smart Follow

Moves the script at the pace you speak, waits while you pause or ad-lib, and catches up when you skip ahead. Speech recognition runs on the device, in the language the script is written in, and is never sent to a server. On by default on Mac, and on iPhone and iPad from version 1.4, when the device's language supports on-device recognition.

Smart Pause

Holds the script when you stop talking and starts it again when you speak. It measures loudness only and recognizes no words.

A steady speed

You can also turn both off and scroll at a speed you choose.

What is the Eye Contact Score?

After each front-camera take on iPhone and iPad, the share of the take your eyes stayed near the lens, with a timeline of the moments you looked away. It measures; it never edits your eyes or your video. It runs on the device, on the frames of the take you just recorded.

Does EyePrompt alter your eyes with AI?

No. EyePrompt never edits, repaints or redirects your eyes. It keeps your gaze near the lens while you record, then measures it. That is the difference from AI eye-contact correction, which generates new pixels for your eyes during a call or after recording. How the two approaches compare.

Does EyePrompt upload scripts or recordings?

No account and no upload. Scripts, recordings and speech recognition stay on the device, and the app works in Airplane Mode. There is no analytics SDK, and the App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected. Scripts do not sync between devices, because there is no account or server to sync through. Privacy policy.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone (iOS 17 or later), iPad (iPadOS 17 or later), Mac (macOS 14 or later). One purchase unlocks Pro on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Can EyePrompt be used during video calls?

Yes, on the Mac. A reading band under the Mac's camera that floats above Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime or Keynote without taking focus, hidden from screen sharing in supported apps, plus a Studio to record, trim and export with captions. How hiding from screen sharing works, and its limits.

Which languages are supported?

The app is translated into nine languages, down to the system permission dialogs: English, Turkish, German, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Italian. Smart Follow works in any language the device can recognize on-device; a language without an on-device model is refused rather than sent to a server.

What else is in the app?

What is free, and what does Pro include?

Free:

Pro:

Pro is $7.99 a month, $39.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $99.99 once. US prices; the App Store shows local prices. The one-time purchase never renews.

Who is EyePrompt designed for?

Anyone who speaks to a camera from a script: creators filming talking-head videos for TikTok, Reels and YouTube, founders and salespeople recording video messages, teachers and coaches, presenters, journalists, and people on video calls who want their notes near the camera.

How is EyePrompt different from a beam-splitter teleprompter?

A beam-splitter teleprompter puts the text optically in front of the lens with angled glass, so the eyes can look straight into the lens. It needs hardware, setup and space. EyePrompt puts the text on the screen right under the camera instead: nothing to set up, at the cost of a small offset below the lens that the band keeps as short as the screen allows.
